Lance Armstrong

This story is about a cyclist who fought against his life to continue his journey as a cyclist.He came back to the sport again after the struggle and won its top prize.Lance Armstrong a cyclist from United States of America started his career at the age of sixteen.By 1991 he became US amateur national champion.Thereafter he proved himself with USPRO championship title,stage victories in Tour De France,a world championship,No.1 world ranking and a spot in US olympic team.While he was at top of his game he was forced off from his bike in excruciating pain.His doctors gave him stunning news that he had cancer.Though his chances of recovery are less than 50-50,a frightenend yet determined Lance began an aggressive form of chemotheraphy.Once chemotheraphy started working,Lance gradually allowed his thoughts to return to racing.After coming back he found himself teamless until United Postal Service took a leap of faith and signed him.He then had top five finishes in Tour De Spain and world championships.He added six more Tour De France titles to his list.He became inspiration to many people.The associated press awarded him male athlete of the year for four times from 2002-2005.He won best male athlete at the ESPY awards in 2003,2004,2005 and 2006.In 2008 he was listed in 100 most influential people by Times magazine.Can anyone imagine themself being so courageous even after knowing that you have cancer.From the story of this great athlete we can know opportunities must be created.People like Lance will stand as a role model in the history to inspire and encourage many athletes.
